Job Summary

We are looking for an aspiring analytical chemist to join our analytical department as part of our Fall 2023 internship program. The successful candidate will perform analysis to characterize pharmaceutical and OLED starting materials, intermediates, and final compounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn to prepare and analyze samples using many of the following techniques:
HPLC/MSUPLC/MS,Chiral LC
NMRGC/MSGC (headspace and direct injection)
KFIRX-ray and laser diffraction
DSCTGA 
  • Process data and compile analytical data packages to determine material suitability
  • Store and archive analytical data according to company procedures
  • Learn how to perform instrument maintenance, repair and calibration activities to ensure the accuracy and precision of test results
  • Help maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a B.S. program in Chemistry or life sciences, with at least 1 year of collegiate chemistry experience
  • The ideal candidate will have already completed their lab preparatory classes and be actively enrolled in courses with in-lab requirements
  • Ability to rapidly learn and eventually gain expertise in the fine details of instrument hardware and software, including routine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated self-starter with strong collaboration and organizational skills able to work in a fast paced-environment
  • Detail oriented to ensure accuracy of information used in cutting edge research


Language Ability:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, and clients. Write scientific reports and synthesis procedures in order to enable other researchers. Effective presentation of information and responses to questions from managers, co-workers, and clients. 

Math Ability:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to calculate charges for reactions.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to solve problems and analyze data without supervision

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have some knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Explorer; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel.
