Leading our Operational Growth in Contract Research Capabilities
Meet our Chief Operating Officer, Helen Stimson. Her role at Adesis is a testament to our commitment to expanding our horizons, which means more possibilities and new services and capabilities for our clients.
On June 1, 2020, Helen took up the reins as Adesis’ first COO. She executes the company’s business plans and oversees our day-to-day administrative and operational functions. She also spearheads new initiatives, designs operations strategies, communicates policies to employees and assists human resources with internal issues and building a world-class workforce.
Leadership in Challenging Times
Helen joined the company in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and helped us weather the second half of 2020 while also preparing us for what lies ahead in 2021. She devotes her considerable scientific and business prowess to expanding our manufacturing capabilities as well as finding new and innovative ways of telling the Adesis story and sharing our scientific skills with the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Her extensive background in business and scientific development forms a robust foundation for her desire and ability to build Adesis into a formidable player in contract chemical research and manufacturing.
In a recent speech at the Delaware Today Women in Business event, Helen noted that “Leaders must do more than survive challenges; they need to look for the opportunities that the challenges create.” Guidance like this is one reason for her success in leading and growing organizations, helping them reach their true potential even in times of great challenge.
Community and Background
Helen is passionate about her involvement with a variety of local organizations, such as the Biopharmaceutical program at the College of Engineering at the University of Delaware, where she is on several advisory committees; and her board membership work at public broadcasting group WHYY, where she is currently on the team sponsoring a lifetime learning award for Dr. Anthony Fauci later this year.
Helen’s formative education includes a BA in chemistry from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, followed by business development instruction from Wharton Business School, the Kellogg School of Management, and Columbia University among other exemplary programs. She began her career as a sales representative at Hewlett Packard focusing on analytical instrumentation, followed by career milestones showcasing her business and science expertise. Her former leadership roles include president and CEO of Delaware Bioscience Association and senior vice president & general manager at Agilent Technologies.
While the pandemic’s disruption means there are challenges ahead, Adesis clients can be assured Helen has her eye on leading through both the challenges and successes of 2021 and beyond.
Welcome to the team, Helen!
