If running an ethical company was a chemical reaction, community concern and volunteerism would be a significant component. Part of what makes Adesis such a strong company is our value for this key ingredient both with our employees and the community in which we live and work. Our efforts to do good are inspired by our corporate philosophy and the creative thinking and volunteer spirit of those who work for Adesis.
Throughout 2020 and into 2021, Adesis embarked on a variety of philanthropic efforts, several of which were entirely employee-driven. Perhaps the most unique was our response to the COVID-19 pandemic by pooling our resources and talents as a trusted contract research company to quickly produce and distribute more than 1.75 metric tons of hand sanitizer to first responders, employee families and the community.
In addition, we collected boxes of diapers and other baby products for Catholic Charities’ Baby Drive, toys for the Christmas Toys for Tots drive, assembled filled Christmas stockings for the Stockings for Soldiers program, and donated Thanksgiving turkeys to those in need.
But our community involvement goes far beyond annual or seasonal charity drives. We maintain active relationships with organizations like Delaware Bio, The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware Sustainable Chemistry Alliance to advance support for the sciences in Delaware.
Building Delaware’s Science Workforce
At Adesis, we also make it a priority to support education and ensure opportunities for the next generations of scientists and chemists. As a founding member of Intern Delaware, we have supplemented our already robust intern program by partnering with 30 companies around the state to focus on the benefits of living in Delaware and to help keep emerging talent in the First State. The program also provides interns with access to business leaders while they learn about the state’s economy and culture. Through our in-house internship program, we have hosted 14 interns and co-op students during the last two years, allowing them to gain the sort of industry experience they could only have at Adesis.
Other educational outreach programs include participation in the DelTech Science Fair, donations to the science experimentation projects of local schools, and offering tours to students to familiarize them with industrial chemistry. Later in 2021, we are launching an original program designed to help foster the next generation of Delaware innovators by nurturing their love for the sciences.
All of our charitable events, outreach efforts and internship programs reflect our deep concern not just for making our communities better today, but for building a better future for Delaware and everyone who lives here.
